So if I get it right, Armin has chosen 5 professional producers to make an anthem and will allow 1 amateur producer to join the fray. Then, ASOT listeners will be asked to vote for THE anthem among these 6 choices.

So? What are your thoughts? Who are these mysterious five? Will the amateur stand a chance? Will YOU compete for that 6th producer wildcard? What should the Anthem sound like > Euphoric? Sad? Techy? High BPM? Pitch sounds? Vocals/Choirs? Strings? Supersaws? Plucks? Polka dot influences?
Also, what should happen to the 5 non-winning mixes after we pick the winning Anthem > Let them wither to dust or have them released as 'remixes'? Will you vote? Do you like to vote in general? What do you think of brownies? Can snow ever be black? Will 2012 entail the end of the world as we know it? Or will it just be the year that the Berlin Dash finally takes the #1 spot in the DJ Mag Top 100? :o

i think its a great idea. i think more opportunities like this should be given to the bedroom producers. Im wondering whether to send one of my tracks out, but i really dont know what hes looking for. Maybe hes just looking for a damn good tune regardless of whether its tech trance, progressive, uplifting etc. Does anybody know how long we have to upload? It says that the wildcard will be chosen Dec 8th but we must submit asap??

It will be an amazing thing if the wildcard did end up winning, beating the other 5 established producers. And the fact that the listeners get to vote is a good thing in my opinion.

Well if the ASOT listeners will choose then it will unfortunately (for me) be a Big Roomer or vocal. To vote is pointless for me too, in 2011 not even one of my favorite tracks made it to the FF, they didnt even come close - my taste just isnt the taste of the forum crowd or trance family who love Big Room and Vocal but hate uplifting and melodic trance.

If the Amateur will have a chance? I think he wont. Armin did choose 5 professionels + 1 amateur, but who says that the "amateurs" are really "amateurs"? Who does stop people like Menno de Jong, theBlizzard, Dennis Sheppard etc to send their stuff? Nobody does, also where does "amateur" start? For me it would be a person that had never signed a record in his life, for Armada it might be a person that isnt choosen by Armin ;)

There have been so many contest´s in trance music and pretty much every time a well known DJ or producer had won, even tho it was announced as a chance for amateurs. I appreciate the "chance" Armin is trying to give those "newbies" out there, but I doubt that it will work that way.


I just hope Armin doesnt announce the name of the artists before voting.

Well this is exactly what I meant by amateur ;) And I do think it would unfair on Armin's side to pick an established name as 6th producer, it ruins the whole fun and 'democratic' face of the contest. So indeed, the amateur should be a non-established (amateur/beginning) producer imo too ;)

Just out of curiosity: did you like Status Excessu D to a certain degree Sunspot? Are was it just boring to you?

would be great if they all got played as ID - ID's then you have to voter so people wernt just voting for their favourite artist,

Totally agree on this. if the anthem is voted by the #trancefamily/crowd, we 'll never have an Uplfting track as anthem this year.
2nd point. The Amateurs.I think that a lot of producers will send their track, not real "amateurs" .

Tough call, the track itself was nicely done and I did like it and it was not boring at all (the pitchy witchy part excluded) but for me it didnt had enough power, I did miss the booom & bang in it or the "tears in my eyes effect" that I for instance always have when I listen to Ligaya.
