I think Armin himself and others associated with Armada and ASOT sometimes read these forums, so that is why I am posting this message here. Would someone please pass along this request to someone who can help solve or at least explain a problem regarding ASOT on Sirius/XM in the United States.
Prior to the merger last year of the two satellite radio companies in the United States, ASOT was carried only on XM via Worldspace's "The System". After the two companies merged, The System was no longer carried by the combined company now called Sirius/XM. This initially left US fans with only DI.fm as a means to listen to the show.
We thought this problem was solved back in January when Sirius/XM announced they would start carrying ASOT, which they did. However, for several weeks now we have only been getting old episodes of ASOT, sometimes a few months old. And we also get the shorter version of ASOT designed for commercial radio stations, even though Sirius/XM is a commercial free music service. These problems are not occurring with other shows such as Trance Around the World.
XM was very customer friendly and listeners could e-mail the staff directly and get a response within a matter of minutes. Unfortunately, the management of the new combined company forbids staff from receiving e-mails directly or responding to questions from subscribers. We have been e-mailing Sirius/XM for weeks asking about the problem, but they refuse to respond.
I would think that Armin and the other folks responsible for ASOT have certain expectations of the radio stations that carry ASOT. I think the way ASOT is being handled by Sirius/XM unfortunately reflects poorly on Armin, ASOT, and Armada in general even though they may not even know about this issue.
Could someone associated with ASOT please help us out by asking about this problem and then explaining the situation to the fans? If there are contract negotiations or something of that nature going on that is fine. Is the contract with Sirius/XM only for older episodes? We don't need and aren't asking for every detail of the situation, just something that helps us understand the situation.
Thanks,
