Full Version: Armin: Asot Fans With Sirius/xm In The United States Need Your Help

I think Armin himself and others associated with Armada and ASOT sometimes read these forums, so that is why I am posting this message here. Would someone please pass along this request to someone who can help solve or at least explain a problem regarding ASOT on Sirius/XM in the United States.

Prior to the merger last year of the two satellite radio companies in the United States, ASOT was carried only on XM via Worldspace's "The System". After the two companies merged, The System was no longer carried by the combined company now called Sirius/XM. This initially left US fans with only DI.fm as a means to listen to the show.

We thought this problem was solved back in January when Sirius/XM announced they would start carrying ASOT, which they did. However, for several weeks now we have only been getting old episodes of ASOT, sometimes a few months old. And we also get the shorter version of ASOT designed for commercial radio stations, even though Sirius/XM is a commercial free music service. These problems are not occurring with other shows such as Trance Around the World.

XM was very customer friendly and listeners could e-mail the staff directly and get a response within a matter of minutes. Unfortunately, the management of the new combined company forbids staff from receiving e-mails directly or responding to questions from subscribers. We have been e-mailing Sirius/XM for weeks asking about the problem, but they refuse to respond.

I would think that Armin and the other folks responsible for ASOT have certain expectations of the radio stations that carry ASOT. I think the way ASOT is being handled by Sirius/XM unfortunately reflects poorly on Armin, ASOT, and Armada in general even though they may not even know about this issue.

Could someone associated with ASOT please help us out by asking about this problem and then explaining the situation to the fans? If there are contract negotiations or something of that nature going on that is fine. Is the contract with Sirius/XM only for older episodes? We don't need and aren't asking for every detail of the situation, just something that helps us understand the situation.

Thanks,

I have been a loyal customer of XM for nearly 5 years. and am about to cancel sad.gif

I used to listen to aSOT on the system as well. But once merger, It has absolutely sucked .
Get this; I have been paying $12.95/mnth for a car unit and premium radio. mad.gif

Now they want to raise me to $15.99 and I DONT get premium online (128kb) and its obvious because OTHERS are cancekling so they try to make up the revenues! mad.gif

I have yet to cancel my service i actually called to do so and then they offered me 67.00$ one time paymeny, an invoice NOT an auto debit.

However when I logged backin I DO NOT have the premium. I have well trained ears and can tell the high hats and bassslines are distroted. huh.gif

Furious with this I am but in this economic climate XM and sirius are FORCING their clients to cancel their subs

SAD and emotional to end to a love affair but Di.fm is enough for me , I will miss Chill 84, though

Damn I can imagine this mess with Sirius/XM is getting really annoying. First they dropped the show without any explanation and now this? What I have read several times they are in deep financial trouble. This issue might be related to this, they might wanna pretend they still run ASOT but in reality don't wanna spend the funds on licencing new episodes.

What I do know is that ASOT is not distributed by Armada but by an outside company. It's called The Radio Department. They should know what's going on in this matter. Maybe you can try contacting them? http://www.theradiodepartment.com/

Hey guys.. I've been a Sirius customer for a few years now...they actually started to play more great music after they got together with Xm...they do Play Armin's ASOT, so as TATW (above and beyond), and all other shows on channel 38 (Area 38)..the problem was that ASOTs they played were like 2-3 weeks old..but now they play new ASOT the next day of it's live broadcast...
I was about to cancel the contract too, but now it's all good. Thanks to all ppl that took place in this arrangement.
