Anyway, I'm glad Armin got #1 again and that trance has once again dominated pretty much as I was thinking that maybe this year trance would start falling in popularity. Obviously it has only strengthened its standing which is good for all of us on here!

The thing is, I think the only conclusion you can draw is that trance fans are more likely to vote. That top 100 list bears little relation in some ways to what's actually going on in the world's dance scene.

For me, it's summed up by Mauro Picotto, who quite successfully runs Meganite at the world's biggest club, Privilege in Ibiza, all throughout the summer. He's at #88, supposedly slightly less globally popular than Mike Koglin at #87. Noys Night taking up residency at Privilege in 2009? I don't think so.

That's because its rigged! These labels must have paid heaps of money to keep him at no.1. One thing I can tell you about that list...The majority of people who voted know f*** all about music.

Good to see A&B and Markus Schulz in the top 10

Not too impressed by Armin taking the number 1 spot again due to many factors mentioned by his avid fans before on this forum (IMG:http://avb-forum.armadamusic.nl/style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

Here we go...another year of torture music during the first hour... Dry music... You know what F@ck this show! I have heard better stuff on Afterhours.fm

Do you really think that Armin being no 2 or 3 would change the music he chooses for ASOT?
I really doubt it....

Here's what Armin says in the interview in the issue:

QUOTE
"It's only affected me in a positive way," he says of his win 12 months ago. "It's opened doors that weren't open before. On the one hand, I'm still doing the same thing - I was already working with the best promoters in the best clubs around the world. But the whole No.1 thing is magical for me - everyone looks at the DJ Mag list. It's a really, really good feeling."

That good feeling started all the way back at the Top 100 DJs party last year when Armin played the winner's set to a rapturous reception. And he had some very special guests watch him to accept his award. Ben Liebrand - a massive influence on Armin - was there, as was his parents, who he'd flown in all the way from Australia. "It was one of the highlights of my life," he grins. "I thought, 'That's it, I can die happy now.'"

Thats the thing...this poll should be for people who go to clubs on a regular basis who have actually heard Armin and the rest of them throughout the year in a club or festival rather than judge such DJ's based on their CD's or radio shows...but obviously thats not the case.

The thing with trance followers or at least the people I know who are into trance are they are usually in it for the right reasons rather than for the wrong ones such as just going to a club to look cool and take drugs etc...which imo, at least, is why trance followers vote as they can remember what tunes were played rather than be too drunk or drugged up to remember anything of the previous night...

Thing is, with Ibiza, I think its more the night in Ibiza rather than the DJ's. Armada nights from what I was told was a couple of years ago was free to get in or 10 euros back in the day. Obviously with Armin at #1, they managed 35 euros this year but even with Armin and Schulz on the lineup, they could never compete with a Cream or a Cocoon night...

armada was busier than cream this year, by far. dont know if it was anyhting to do with the whole number 1 thing. in pervious years it was always busy, but never busier than cream/cocoon

Could very well have been but I went to two Armada nights and one Cream night and albeit, it was Cream's b-day, Cream was absolutely rammed whereas only the main room was full with the Armada's. It was just with the conversations with people who'd been there for years who told me that Cream always came out on top and hence the higher door price but also because trance was not the music of choice in Ibiza anymore...anyway, hope this changes!

to be honest, both times i went armada this year was a speical event really so would be busier than a regular armada night.
armins solo night, and closing (which iv still not got over, 1 of the best nights iv had!) so i guess they were the biggest nites for all the armin/ armada fans so would always be pretty busy.

O_O_O wtf?

He's usually got at least 2 tracks in beatport top10 every day of the year.

Thought maybe Schulzy would've gone even bit higher, as expected Diggers fell from grace.

Interesting movements for me -

05. David Guetta +5
29. Fedde le Grand -7
38. Daft Punk +33
50. Andy C +17
57. Roger Sanchez -32

Not really interesting as most can be explained.

Oh and bad luck Sharam, maybe it's a sign?

30. Dubfire
41. Deep Dish

At the end of the day the top10 is very difficult to break into and for some reason remains dominated by Trance DJs 6/10 (not counting IM). There's just as many Trance DJs moving upwards as there is down too. After the top 10 or so fluctuations aplenty. It's almost as though the top10 combined get as many votes as everyone else combined.

But yeh... what a useless poll. Trance, Pensioners, Chart-Toppers and Vote Pushers!
